Die vielseitige Pianistin Eden Brent injiziert ihre grobe, Roots-lastige Musik mit den pikanten Elementen des unverkennbaren Crescent City Sounds – zwischen Greenville und New Orleans, der Crescent City, sind es schließlich auch nur 300 Meilen Luftlinie. Als Eden Brent von ihrer Heimatstadt nach New Orleans reiste, um „Ain’t Got No Troubles“ aufzunehmen, ließ sie jedoch die direkte Route der Interstate hinter sich und nahm die ländlichen Highways, die sich am Ufer des Mississippi entlangschlängeln. Der weitschweifige Weg endete auf der Piety Street in New Orleans, wo sie mit Produzent Colin Linden und der Mission, ihren Sound auszuweiten, aufnahm: Bassist George Porter, Jr., trug den Groove von New Orleans bei. Eden Brent selbst schrieb acht der zwölf Tracks auf dem Album, in denen sie ihren Sinn für clevere Wortspiele präsentiert: „In Love With Your Wallet“ ist voll von ironischen Beobachtungen, während die Varieté Nummer „My Man“ ein Fest der Doppeldeutigkeiten ist. Doch „Ain’t Got Not Troubles“ vertritt auch andere Nuancen: die Intimität von “If I Can’t”, die Seelenpein von “Blues All Over” oder die seelenvolle, herzzerreißende Ballade “Leave Me Alone”.

Eclectic pianist Eden Brent injects her gritty, rootsy music with spicy elements of the unmistakable Crescent City sound. As the crow flies, Greenville, MS and New Orleans are just 300 miles apart. But when pianist Eden Brent traveled from her hometown to record 'Ain't Got No Troubles,' she eschewed the interstate for meandering country highways that parallel the Mississippi River's route. The circuitous road trip ended at New Orleans' Piety Street, where she recorded with producer Colin Linden in a quest to further broaden her sound: working with bassist George Porter, Jr., she and Linden injected her gritty, rootsy music with spicy elements that earmark the unmistakable Crescent City sound. Brent penned eight of the album's twelve tracks, exhibiting a keen sense of clever wordplay - the juke joint jumper "In Love With Your Wallet" is filled with wry observation, while the vaudeville throwback "My Man" is peppered with double entendre. But there's also considerable nuance: the intimacy of "If I Can't", the after-hours anguish of "Blues All Over," and the soulful, heartbreaking ballad "Leave Me Alone."
