Frank "Big Frank" Gomez (born July 23, 1954) is an Austin based American rhythm and blues singer/song writer, guitarist and vocalist. Gomez became known for his guitar playing and vocals in the late 1970s in a band formed with his brothers called Deep Heet, which pioneered Frank's rock, funk, rhythm and blues fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against funk rhythms featuring percussion instruments not generally heard in rhythm & blues music. Gomez continued to work in these forms over the following decades and in 2007 created his current project, The Frank Gomez Band. Recording their debut album "Under The Influence" was experienced by a resurgence of popularity for Frank Gomez. He invited legendary artists to perform on the album that included Augie Meyers, Flaco Jimenez, Ruben Ramos, Max Baca, Stefani Montiel and Jerry De La Rosa.

When Frank Gomez decided to create a new album, the legendary guitarist and bandleader thought he was certain about its direction, but while in the studio in October 2009, Gomez had a life altering experience in a way that most can't even comprehend or fathom; the untimely and tragic death of his only daughter. After an extended leave from recording, Gomez found the strength and determination to go back into the studio. Once the song process got underway, the creation of making this important album became a labor of love for everyone involved.

When the project came to completion in 2011, it came to be known as "Soul Resurrection", described in Frank's words as "a collection of songs that is a renewal of my music, my band and my life."

The Frank Gomez Band consists of Alex Hernandez, James Jones, Joe Gomez, Paul Santacruz, BJ Romero and David Kyle. This year will be a productive year for the band with selective shows across the USA with performances in major venues and festivals in cities such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, Oklahoma City, New Orleans and St. Louis, as well as numerous gigs in small clubs and juke joints of the southern states.

Frank Gomez is heavily influenced by blues-rock guitar icons such as Santana, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Wes Montgomery and Johnny Winter, but possesses his own easily recognizable style. Since 1973, Gomez has been using Gibson guitars, which has become his signature. Gomez performs with a personalized red Gibson ES333 and red Custom ES335.

Frank Gomez's 2011 album, Soul Resurrection, is three years in the making and captures his musical spirit and virtuosity at its peak. The songs have a deep emotional connection and show Frank to be a master at blending blues, jazz, r&b and funk through melody and rhythm.
