B.C. Read’s new album “1,000 Miles” proves once again that he has all the right stuff.

The highly anticipated new album from one of Canada’s finest. B.C. Read’s fourth CD “1,000 Miles” is loaded full of great original music (12 tracks total). It proves once again that B.C. Read and his all-star band are a group to be reckoned with.

The guest list reads like the” Who’s Who” of the Western Canadian music seen, with appearances by Juno Nominated Vocalist Suzie Vinnick, Winnipeg’s penultimate Blues Man Big Dave McLean on Harmonica, Western Canada’s guitar hero Jack Semple, Ross Nykiforuk from the Northern Pikes on Organ and Accordion, as well as appearances by guest vocalists Wilma and brother Kelly Read, The Saskatoon Symphony’s principal Tuba Player Brent Longstaff, guitarists Doug Scarrow and from “Outside The Wall”, Ron Clemens. With long time band members George Tennent (Bass) and Sheldon Corbett (Horn Arrangement’s & Saxophone), Kevin Barrett on Piano and Joe Dixon on Drums, B.C. and Co-Producer Glenn Ens have again produced a masterful collection of songs. In styles ranging from gut bucket Delta Blues (Jellyroll Baker) to funky full horn section New Orleans R&B (That’s the Deal) to straight-up Chicago Blues (1,000 Miles). His work has been compared to The Band, John Hiatt and a bluesy Neil Young (Who Read Covers with the only non-original on the CD “Are You Ready for the Country” recorded live off the floor). Read also for the first time touches on the political side with his anti-war offering “(Why Can’t We Just) Walk Away”
